A lighthouse. A girl.
A truth that only the player can bring to light.
A year ago, Sophie disappeared. No goodbye, no trace—just silence. Ever since, the lighthouse at the edge of the wildlife park has been waiting for someone willing to face the darkness and uncover the truth that lies hidden there.
“Lighthouse Lost” is QM Interactive’s latest standalone title: a mystery walking simulatorthat captivates with its atmosphere, suspense, and a moving coming-of-age story . Having already received two grants from the Bavarian Film and Television Fund (FFF)—for the concept and prototype phases—the project is demonstrating its potential even before its release.
In the game, the player takes on the role of 17-year-old Evelyn, whose best friend Sophie disappeared without a trace a year ago. On her own, Evelyn sets out on a search for the truth: She fights her way through a dark wildlife park to the Hollow Pines Lighthouse—the place where Sophie was last seen. Along the way, she solves puzzles, and confronts the oppressive atmosphere of the forest, and stays connected via her smartphone to stay in touch with friends and, piece by piece, uncover the truth about Sophie’s disappearance.
Dynamic Stress Mechanics
The gameplay is based on three closely intertwined pillars: the exploration of the path to the lighthouse as the atmospheric centerpiece of the game, a dynamic stress systemthat reflects Evelyn’s growing anxiety at being alone in the forest, and the smartphone mechanicthat allow her to access secret websites and stay in touch with her friends. Through their decisions, players actively influence the course of the story—different choices lead to different gameplay paths and thus open up multiple ways to uncover the the truth about Sophie’s disappearance .
Project Status
Lighthouse Lost is currently in development using Unreal Engine 5 and is already available as a playable prototype . It includes the game’s core gameplay elements: atmospheric exploration from a first-person perspective along an open path to the lighthouse, a dynamic stress system with visual hallucinations that lets players experience Evelyn’s mounting tension in the forest, as well as the smartphone mechanic, through which text messages, clues, and decisions are woven into the story. The prototype is complemented by five fully developed characters as well as a rich audiovisual presentation that carries the game’s oppressive atmosphere.
Outlook
Since our concept has already generated significant interest among leading publishers—in particular, the innovative stress level system has drawn considerable attention—we are now setting out to bring Lighthouse Lost one step closer to its next crucial milestone: market readiness.
We are seeking collaboration with national and international publisherswho recognize the potential of this story and would like to join us on the journey from the prototype phase all the way to release. A release for Xbox and PC (Steam) is planned.
