How Virtual Reality (VR) Promotes Safety, Inclusion, and Enthusiasm

Can virtual reality motivate people to change their behavior? Can it provide children and teens with experiences that are often out of reach in real life? Our answer: Yes—if VR delivers real added value rather than just a “wow” factor.

With VR4Kids, we develop impactful XR applications. VR4Kids opens up new worlds of experience and learning: from traffic safety training and hospital orientation sessions to riding along in an ambulance and 360° sports and event experiences—such as at Oktoberfest. The content is presented from a child’s perspective and accompanied by sign language. This creates authentic, inclusive, and accessible XR experiences that promote participation and bring knowledge to life in a lasting way—and not just for children and teens.

As a production partner of Connected Reality, we have been supporting the establishment of VR4Kids since late 2024 by developing the VR4Kids platform and creating customized virtual reality experiences and training programs for a wide range of topics.

VR Training

Traffic Safety

The training provides a first-hand look at typical hazardous situations in traffic: trucks turning right, vans on bike paths, people getting off buses, and more. By shifting perspectives, it also helps participants understand how drivers perceive these situations—for greater safety in everyday life. The training is available in German and sign language.

What makes it special: Based on the VR4Kids road safety experience, the MedienLB —the largest provider of quality-certified educational films—a road safety video for schools. The educational quality and didactic excellence of this training program for schoolchildren in traffic safety were recognized with the prestigious Comenius-EduMedia Seal 2026 .

In the ambulance

An accident has occurred: The Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) ambulance and its paramedics are on the scene and providing initial care. In this extraordinary virtual reality experience, you’ll witness the initial assessments up close—from treatment on the stretcher to transport in the ambulance. You’ll also gain insights into the vehicle’s equipment, the work of the paramedics, and important tips in detail. Available in German, sign language, English, Ukrainian, and Arabic.

Hospital Onboarding

Before a scheduled surgery, participants can experience and practice the entire setup in an innovative way: the patient’s room, an ultrasound exam, blood draw, and much more can be experienced here in a realistic setting. Available in German.

VR Experiences

Oktoberfest

Haunted house, Ferris wheel, bumper cars, or the almond stand: Experience the world’s largest folk festival up close with amazing insights. Dive in and have fun in the exciting world of Oktoberfest! Available in German, English, and sign language.

Munich City Tour

The Munich city tour, commissioned by the Munich and Surrounding Areas Association of the Deaf, offers a new, creative, and innovative experience at special locations in Munich. Available in sign language and German.

Eisbach Wave

“VR4Kids – Feel the Wave” lets you experience firsthand what it feels like to stand on the famous Eisbach Wave in Munich’s English Garden or to surf on a surfboard. Available in German.

Sport

Basketball & Wheelchair Basketball

Group basketball training as part of the team: Learn the most important techniques from Olympic champion Gesche Schünemann—for lots of fun on the basketball court. Available in German and English.

Tennis

At the famous Iphitos facility in Munich, you can learn the most important types of shots together with many friends and experience exciting training up close. Available in German.

In the Allianz Arena Player Tunnel

A highlight for every soccer fan: Walk through the players’ tunnel alongside the players to the field—right into the heart of the packed stadium. Experience the Allianz Arena up close. Available in German.

Right in the middle, instead of on the sidelines

Children and teenagers, in particular, feel like active participants thanks to 360° technology—they can make decisions and enjoy exciting experiences and extraordinary training sessions alongside other protagonists, especially when this isn’t possible in real life, such as when they have to be in the hospital.

This innovative concept opens up new perspectives and creates unforgettable moments filled with fun, inspiration, and awareness. The number of different experiences is constantly growing. Each VR experience is tailor-made and created in collaboration with renowned partners—the BMW Group, AOK, the Bavarian Red Cross, the Association for the Deaf (GMU), the Inclusion Network (NID), and many more.
