Concept

Missio – One World. No Slavery. Since 2024, the missio truck has been touring Germany under this motto. The travelling exhibition, which is specifically aimed at young people, uses a variety of multimedia resources to highlight injustices around the world. From March 2026, the missio truck will offer a comprehensively revised and expanded exhibition with a new theme focusing on the mining of the mineral mica under slave-like conditions in Madagascar. The truck will thus be able to embark on a new tour of Germany in spring 2026, using augmented reality, videos, audio stations and interactive applications to draw attention to injustices in today’s world.
In the truck, visitors can expect the virtual companion figure “Chris” awaits visitors on a tour through various themed multimedia rooms. In groups of three, the facets of modern “slavery” are interactively presented in various contexts, such as on tea plantations in Indiain meat factories in Germanyin meat factories in Germany exploitation on cruise ships and – most recently – the inhumane mining of the mineral mica in Madagascar. Through augmented reality, videos, audio stations with appropriate subtitles, quiz questions and opportunities for interactionthe everyday life of people living in exploitative working conditions is presented. This illustrates what modern slavery has to do with us in Germany.

Digital exhibition

Real objects are brought to life through augmented reality and tell of the fates of affected people. The orange juice glass tells the story of Abit, a refugee from Sudan, and the make-up shows the world of Moma from Madagascar. With original objects, interactive graphics and virtual encounters with people from all over the world, the various forms of modern slavery are made visible. The missio truck not only makes it possible to experience the dramatic everyday lives of people living in slave-like conditions today and thus sensitizes visitors to the issue. It also shows ways in which each and every one of us can make a contribution to a fairer world.
