OER to Explore

With the OER WimmelCamp , we have created a program for the University of Rostock an interactive learning game that makes open educational resources accessible in a playful way. The scenario is designed as a richly detailed hidden-object game that evokes a lively lecture hall and sparks curiosity. The goal was to provide a low-threshold introduction to a complex topic —one that is easy to understand, visually appealing, and motivating. The puzzle game supports the development of an active OER community and is specifically designed for use in vocational education .

Experience Openness

The OER WimmelCamp covers key aspects of Open Educational Resources and demonstrates how all aspects of collaborative learning can work together. The content is available as open learning program and supports the development of an active OER community. Through integrated links and further resources, the game opens opens doors to exchange, networking, and deeper knowledge.

What does OER stand for?

Open Educational Resources (OER) are freely accessible, openly licensed learning and teaching materialsthat anyone can use, share, adapt, and further develop. WimmelCamp brings this idea come to life.

Learning Through Hidden Object Games

Users of the OER WimmelCamp discover fifteen interactive elementsthat bring the many facets of OER to life. They are guided by well-known figures from the OER community, who appear as illustrated avatars and share their knowledge in short audio clips—covering everything from legal foundations to infrastructure and discoverability, all the way to practical applications. In this way, the WimmelCamp combines guidance, storytelling, and in-depth content, making OER not only understandable but also something to experience firsthand.
